For retirees
Purpose after retirement, and a place to belong.
For retirees, and for anyone finding their way in life after losing a spouse. Become an Anchor and share your skills, stories, and steady company with a local household.
One of the more personal volunteer opportunities for retirees.
Life after losing a spouse, or after a long career, can leave a quiet house and a lot of experience with nowhere to go. Steady Allies is not a support group or therapy, and widower support groups may be the right first step for some people. When you're ready for something more everyday, an Anchor role offers purpose after retirement: regular visits, a skill to share, and people who look forward to seeing you.
Three simple steps.

Good to know.
Is Steady Allies a support group?
No. Steady Allies is not a support group or therapy. If you are grieving, widower support groups and grief counselors offer care we do not. What we offer is simpler: a household that would be glad to have you visit.
Am I too old to be an Anchor?
Anchors need to be 21 or older. Retirees are very welcome.
Do I need special skills?
No. Good company, patience, and a willingness to show up count most.
Is this childcare?
No. The Keeper is present for all visits during the pilot.
